| Barbara will discuss the importance of understanding architecture and proper placement of color for exterior painting. She will address using color to create the right mood in interior spaces as well. Attendees are encouraged to bring photos and questions. We will use a portion of the presentation to answer questions.

| CJ will discuss the Romantic Movement in Art and Literature. He will offer his insight into Romanticism’s continuing presence in the modern world. CJ sees Romantic thought as an essential part of being human and has a special regard for Romanticism’s position regarding nature. | In conjunction with his current exhibit, “Houses, Landscapes, Flowers and Dreams” CJ will discuss the Romantic Movement in Art and Literature. He will make connections to Romanticism and the ideals of the Arts & Crafts Movement and offer his insight into Romanticism’s continuing presence in the modern world. | Art and Poetry! Public Poetry Reading by S. Alexander Smith | Architectural Heritage Center Portland, OR |

| Join us for a riveting visual and auditory experience as visiting author, S. Alexander Smith, performs a dramatic reading of the poetry CJ wrote to accompany his paintings for this exhibit. Doors will open for viewing the art at 10:30am. Reading begins at 11am. This will be an interactive and engaging reading that will help viewers to see the art in a new way. We expect the event to last about an hour. CJ & Susan will be present to answer questions and talk to attendees after the performance. S. Alexander Smith is a novelist, actor, librarian, and founding member of Buffalo’s Hag Theatre. Based in NY, she is visiting Portland to perform this reading and to participate in the filming of a documentary video on CJ Hurley and his art. |
