About Catalog Paintings
Limited Painted Editions
As CJ is inspired, he creates new designs which are added to our offering of paintings. We keep track of every piece he makes and where it is sold around the country. It is CJ’s wish to ensure that his designs remain special and meaningful, therefore designs are retired over time. There is no magic number, but you can expect that CJ never makes more than ten to fifteen pieces of the same design created.
Quality Hand-craftsmanship
We search the world for the best hand-made papers that enhance and complement CJ’s painting techniques. Our papers are important to the beauty and tactile quality of the paintings, and are resourced from small makers in the US, Japan, Canada and France. Often embedded with plant forms and metallic flakes, the papers imbue the finished piece of art with the organic quality so important to CJ. CJ is well recognized for his color sensibility and carefully mixes all of his own paints. Finished paintings are mounted using only the best archival materials. Finally, fine framing continues the spirit of the art. We work closely with expert craftspeople who custom make our frames to order. Once framed, we place a brass plate on the back of the frame wiith our company name and the year. Collectors find it important to have access to their art. It is for this reason that we do not paper the back of our frames.
Contact Us
We love hearing from people who are interested in our work. If you make a connection to one of the paintings you see on our website, call us or send an email. We will be happy to tell you more about the work, our process, and help you place an order.
Select your design
Pick out a painting that interests you, and determine if you would like it as it is shown on the website, or if you would like to choose a custom frame option. Not all designs work in all types of frames, but we will advise you on an appropriate option.
Because we work with small paper makers from around the world, we cannot always guarantee the papers shown in the photography are available. If a paper is discontinued, we always find something new that can take its place. We will discuss any paper substitutions with you before we finalize your order.
Custom options
We are always willing to talk about options to assure that you get the piece of art that is best for you and your home. If you love a painting but have other color needs or preferences, let us know. CJ will talk with you about suitable colors and will customize it for you in most cases.
Many designs can also be sized to fit particular needs. If a design that interests you needs to be larger or smaller, we can discuss the options. Sometimes, it can be as simple as changing the way it is framed and sometimes the design needs to be increased or decreased. It is common for clients to request two pieces to hang as companions and customary for us to work out sizing for specific spaces. Please note that dimensions cited are approximate.
Deposit and Scheduling
Once we have finalized the details of your order, Barbara will confirm it by sending you a written project proposal and an invoice for a deposit. We require a 50% deposit in the form of a check to confirm all orders. When your deposit check is received, we will immediately send you a statement acknowledging that you have paid. Your deposit confirms acceptance of our proposal and we then schedule your painting in the next available spot in CJ’s studio calendar. At this time, we also place an order for your hand-made frame, therefore deposits are nonrefundable.
Our lead times vary depending on CJ’s commissions at the time. We usually need a minimum of 3-4 weeks to have your frame custom made and for CJ to create your painting. However, there are times that CJ is working out of town doing a hand-painted interior. These projects can take 3-12 weeks and do not afford him any flexibility in his schedule. Before we finalize your order, Barbara will discuss scheduling with you in depth. If your painting is a gift or needed for an event, we work very hard to meet your deadline. We always work closely with our clients, so don’t hesitate to ask.
